So, what is it?
The Girly Comic is a comic strip anthology that was first
launched at the Comics 2002 Festival in the UK. After witnessing
the sight of so many comics widows being dragged around by
their partners at Comics 2001, I decided that it was about
time that someone attempted to fill that niche market! While
by no means restricted just to women readers, the plan was
to produce something a little more woman-friendly than a lot
of mainstream comic titles out there, with a diversity of
material, at an affordable price. See if you think I managed
that by ordering one of the issues, or reading the reviews.
What
does it contain?
Basically any story that contains good ideas, characterisation
and plot, and which I feel will appeal to a wide audience.
I want stories which have something to say, and can do so
in a short strip format. See the contents section for what's
in the various Issues.
Who am I?
I'm Selina Lock,
editor of The Girly Comic.
This sounds like
an interesting project! Can I contribute?
You certainly can! I am always looking for submissions from
writers, artists and writer/artists. See the submission
guidelines for more details.
