So, what is it?
The Girly Comic was a comic strip anthology that was first
launched at the Comics 2002 Festival in the UK. After
witnessing the sight of so many comics widows being dragged
around by their partners at Comics 2001, I decided that it
was about time that someone attempted to fill that niche
market! While by no means restricted just to women readers,
the plan was to produce something a little more
woman-friendly than a lot of mainstream comic titles out
there, with a diversity of material, at an affordable
price. See if you think I managed that by buying one of The Girly Comic Books. You can now also see
many of the strips on The Girly
Comic webcomic site.
What does it
contain?
Basically any story that contains good ideas,
characterisation and plot, and which I felt would appeal to
a wide audience. I wanted stories which had something to
say, and could do so in a short strip format. See the
contents section for what's in the various Issues.
Who am
I?
I'm Selina
Lock, editor of The Girly Comic.
